Details About PAYMENTS BANK : '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 1). A Payments bank is a type of non-full service niche bank in India 2). On 23rd September 2013, RBI formed a Committee on Comprehensive Financial Services for Small Businesses and Low Income Households under the chairmanship of Nachiket Mor 3). The Nachiket Mor Committee submitted its report on 7th January 2014 recommending the formation of a new category of bank called payments bank 4). On 27th November 2014 RBI released the final guidelines for payments banks 5). 41 entities had applied to the RBI for Payments bank license and an External Advisory Committee(EAC) headed by Nachiket Mor evaluated the applications 6). During the presentation of the Union Budget it was announced that the India Post will use its large network to run payments bank 7). On 19th August 2015 RBI gave in-principle licenses to 11-entities to establish payments bank with a validity period of 18 months. The following are the 11-entities which were granted licenses · Aditya Birla Nuvo · Airtel M Commerce Services · Cholamandalam Distribution Services · Department of Posts · FINO Pay Tech · National Securities Depository · Reliance Industries · Dilip Shanghvi – founder of Sun Pharmaceuticals · Vijay Shekhar Sharma – CEO of Paytm · Vodafone M-Pesa · Tech Mahindra 8). The RBI will consider to grant full licenses under Section 22 of the Banking Regulation Act 1949 after it is satisfied that all the conditions have been satisfied the above entities 9). Payments bank can only receive deposits and provide remittances 10). It cannot carry out lending activities 11). The payments bank targets at · Migrant laborers · Low income households · Small businesses · Unorganized sector entities 12). The minimum capital requirement to establish a payments bank is Rs. 100 crore 13). For the 1st 5 years the stake of the promoter should be 40% minimum 14). The voting rights in payments bank are regulated by the Banking Regulation Act 1949 15). The voting right of any shareholder is capped at 10%, it can be increased to 26% by the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) 16). RBI also regulates any acquisition over than 5% 17). Foreign investments will be allowed in these banks as per the rules of FDI in private banks of India 18). Payments bank can accept utility bills but cannot form subsidiaries to undertake non-banking activities 19). Initially the deposits will be capped at Rs. 1,00,000 per customer but can be raised by the RBI based on the performance of the bank 20). 25% of branches of payments banks should be in the unbanked rural areas 21). A bank will be licensed as ‘Payments bank’ by the RBI under the Section 22 of the Banking Regulation Act 1949 and will be registered as Public Limited Company under the Companies Act 2013.

Premium – rs 12 per annum Payment mode – through saving bank account of the subscriber Insurance cover- for accidental death- rs 2 lakh, for partial disability rs 1 lakh 2. Pradhan Mantri jeevan jyoti bima yojana Eligibility – age group 18-50 having saving bank account can be enrolled under scheme. Premium –rs 330 per annum Payment mode – through saving bank account of the subscriber Insurance cover - forrs 2 lakh in case of death due to any reason 3. Atal pension yojana Purpose – pension Age – minimum 18 years and maximum 40 years Fixed pension –Rs 1000 to Rs 5000 per month at the age of 60 years Contribution depends upon your age Government contribution – 50% of your contribution or Rs 1000, whichever is lower Saving bank account is mandatory 4. Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Smart Cities Project scope- 100 smart Cities and 500 cities for AMRUT Central allocation –Rs 48000 crore for smart cities and Rs 50000 crore for AMRUT Period – 5 years Smart cities to be selected through City Challenge Competition AMRUT will cover all cities with population more than 1 lakh and above 5. The government would provide an interest subsidy of 6.5% on housing loans availed by the beneficiaries for a period of 15 years from the start of loan. Digital India Aim – To ensure the government services are made available to citizens electronically. Digital India has three core components. PAHAL scheme Aim - to bring transparency and terminate pilferage from distribution of funds sponsored by Central Government of India. 11. Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Ltd (MUDRA) Bank Regulate the lender and the borrower of microfinance and bring stability to the microfinance system through regulation and inclusive participation. MUDRA Bank has rightly classified the borrowers into three segments: the starters, the mid-stage finance seekers and the next level growth seekers.To address the three segments, MUDRA Bank has launched three loan instruments: • Kishor: covers loans above Rs 50,000/- and uptoRs 5 lakh • Tarun: covers loans above Rs 5 lakh and uptoRs 10 lakh • Shishu: covers loans uptoRs 50,000/- 12. Pradhan Mantri Jan DhanYojana It is the flagship financial inclusion plan of the NDA Government. All Indian citizens can now avail of a bank account despite the lack of KYC documentation. These bank accounts are valid for a year within which account holders must furnish proof of having applied for valid documents required to comply with KYC norms. Under the scheme: 13. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save girl child, educate girl child) Its aims is to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women. The scheme was initiated with an initial corpus of Rs 100 crore. The Ministry of Women and Child Development will be responsible for budgetary control and administration of the scheme at the Central level Madhuri Dixit is the brand ambassador of this scheme. 14. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan For ensuring hygiene, waste management and sanitation across the nation “Swachh Bharat Mission” launched. This will be tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary to be celebrated in the year 2019. It aims to provide every rural family with a toilet by 2019. It is expected to cost over ₹62000 crore. Fund sharing between the Central Government and the State Government and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) is 75%:25% (90% : 10% for North Eastern and special category states). When Bank provide banking services except the general banking facility.
2. Narrow Banking
When banks invest its money in government securities instead investing in market to avoid risk.
3. Overseas Banking
Banks having branches in other countries besides its origin country. Example Bank of Baroda has maximum foreign branches by any indian bank
4. Offshore Banking
Bank which accept currency of all countries. Offshore banks are in those countries which declares them as Heaven Bank Country. Example- Swiss Banks
5. Green Banking
Promoting environmental-friendly practices and reducing your carbon footprint from your banking activities.
6. Islamic Bank
Those Banks which work according to Islamic Laws. Concept originate in Egypt. Islamic bank opens at Cochin in Kerala in 2010.

When we Deposit or withdraw money from booths , it is called Kiosk banking.
